South Canterbury Hunt

South Canterbury Hunt’s registered colours (1901) of Buff collar and cuffs on green coat help to recognise the region as an early home of hunting in New Zealand. The Hunt was established in 1882, and one of nine Hunts to formalise the New Zealand Hunts’ Association. Boundaries for their country were confirmed in 1989 (From the Pareora River in the south to the Rangitata River in the north, and between the Alps and the ocean) and again in 2011 (From the Pareora River in the south, to the Ashburton River in the north, and between the Alps and the ocean).
